here they are.
far from their Malacandrian orbits.
warcry, dying in echoes
off walls splattered
with Sesame Street decals
like a muppet slaughterhouse.
chaos twinned.
skinned knees
more than one way
to chase cats
who are learning to fear
eyes that gleam
voices that scream
souls that dream
and fingers
clutching furry pelts
in victory.
